Touch Ranger
Whats your guys opinons on the touch ranger? i jus bought factions and looking to get into PvP and only got proph and factions, a friend said it would be good as a n00bs first pvp char.. but i was reading pvx and it was filed away because it was too popular and people learned how to counter it.. so is it worth making now or should i find somthing more upto date that few kno how to counter it?

There's only one build more powerful than a toucher: a mending wammo. Seriously though, just play something else. Toucher is bad, it does little damage... and nothing else, its just a little bit annoying.

Thats rubbish lol
To be fair Touchers are really frowned upon in PvP, nobody likes playing against them as they are a play to win build.
However, in PvE they are great at solo farmin bosses ^^ Check out this post for more info...

imho, being a touch ranger is not an honorable way to play.
It is easy, but once you've been tagged as a touch ranger, you will see nothing but snares.
Please try other builds.
Rangers are commonly used to spread conditions via [skill]Apply poison[/skill] and interrupt opponents.
I suggest you practice with [skill]Savage Shot[/skill] and [skill]Distracting Shot[/skill] and learn when is the best time to use either of them.
[skill]Magebane Shot[/skill] is also helpful.
However, the best advice i can give you is to test the waters and come up with your own builds by either mimicking a pvx build and "shake things up" or to just think outside the box.
oh. And don't suck.

Touch rangers are bad.
The damage is terrible.
The utility is non-existant.
And they're easily shutdown by mundane, common counters.
Proph/Factions only, I'd be likely to run Escape or Broadhead Arrow as my elite.
With Apply Poison and Savage Shot, you can (slowly) kill shizzle and do something worthwhile.

A thumper is much more pleasing that a toucher...both are fun...builds that will annoy the life out of pretty much anyone.

Instead of talking about Toucher usefulness (they are useful in low end pvp such RA and AB, not higher) I would ask you if your idea of playing Guild Wars is mashing 1-2-1-2 and occasionally 3. If you would have fun with such a skill less build then go on and roll a Toucher. If you would prefer effectively playing your Ranger go create your own build with the skills you find effective.

Touchers are pretty good in 4v4 because of the great survivibility and that not many bring a snare to 4v4 and they can block d-shot, so they are great all rounders. Definetly gets simple brain free wins in RA, and laughs ^^.

but for all those that use wiki builds, you have no skill. So if that's how you want to play the game, then be my guest. As i've said in many other posts, coming up with you own build variations is best and will help you progress and enjoy the game more... playing wiki builds just makes you lazy and insignificant

Elitist much? I love these noble people who cast down upon others because they dont like what or how they play a GAME.

touch rangers are considered "noobs" because of the ammount of counters - the build is lame because of all its counters and its popularity...but then again, who EVER brings those counters in ab other than people who know how to avoid them?

W/R thumper can put out decent dmg but usually has energy problems. R/W is always fun just for messing around with a sword or axe or thumper

LOL you're funny, when i play a monk in RA and there's a toucher in opposing team I say kill everyone and left the toucher alone, he deals NO damage, he cannot knock down he can't shut me down in any way. It's just bad.

Condition spreading deals WAY more damage than touching and puts great pressure on enemy monk.
People seriously are clueless. If you wanna know what works, try playing a monk, you will see what hurts and what doesnt.

in alliance battles touchers suck. (cant tell for other PvP) you easily get crippled poisoned and then you are unable to heal because everyone just runs away until you drop dead. only works well against earth tanks and riposte warriors but the damage is too low for a melee character if you want to kill someone on your own.
